Dear BES Families,
We have more information for you today as we get ready for students next Thursday. Along with the bus routes The district has a link for ease in our ability to answer Alma help questions to the Alma support through the district. This support is through our tech department. Elliot Anderson manages the Student Information Systems for the Bow School District.
At the end of week I will be sending the new route for Parent Drop Off and Pick Up. We have a video to help with this significant change in the procedure. You will find an attachment below that shares information on the new law regarding stopping for school buses. I encourage everyone to read it.
Please also find our Family/Student Handbook in the attachments below.
The BES teachers have been coming into school and setting up their classrooms. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next week as we build our school community for the coming school year. Please check out the offerings from Bow Rec for after school activities. Children are able to take a bus to the community center for these activities.
We can’t wait to see you all!
Lori
For all who have waited to enter information in Parent Pick Up Patrol here our the 26/27 Bus Routes! Yeah!
Erin Smith the Bow School District Transportation Coordinator has asked me to share the following message below.
From Erin Smith:
Hello Bow SAU 67,
We hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is looking forward to a great 2026- 2027 school year! We certainly are!
A big thank you to everyone who has already completed the bus transportation questionnaire. We truly appreciate those parents who have taken the time to fill out the transportation form. It has really helped the Transportation Department refine routes and provided a more accurate depiction of pickup and drop-off times. The information you provided is extremely helpful and allows the transportation Department to plan routes and run our transportation system much more efficiently. For those families who haven't had time yet, if you could please take a few minutes to complete it, it would greatly help transportation run more efficiently.
Bus Transportation Questionnaire
When reviewing your students' transportation information, please pay close attention to both the route and the bus number. Some routes have been renumbered for this school year, even though the route itself may remain the same
Please take a moment to review the information before the first day of school so everyone knows which bus to look for.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us get the 2026- 2027 school year off to a smooth start!
Dear BES Families,
Please see the message from our Transportation Director, Erin Smith
Take care,
Lori
As we prepare for the start of 2026-2027 school year, we are trying something new to help us better understand actual bus ridership
Due to State testing requirements and a shortage of evaluators at DMV, we anticipate beginning the school year with fewer bus drivers than we would like. Erin Smith, Transportation Director and her staff have worked very hard to develop our routes and schedules, and we are now trying to determine which students will actually be riding the bus on a regular basis.
We are sharing the link below with families and encouraging parents to complete the ridership form even if they have already sent an email. This information will allow us a more accurate picture of who will be using transportation and who will not.
Once we have this information, we can review the routes and make adjustments where appropriate, particularly with regard to timing. Even one student who does not ride can potentially add or subtract 5 - 8 minutes from a route That can make a significant difference for students and families, especially when they are waiting outside in inclement weather
We appreciate your support and assistance as we try this new approach. Our goal is to make our transportation routes as efficient and reliable as possible while minimizing unnecessary wait times for our student
Link to Transportation Request
Our plan is to post the bus routes next Monday 8/17/26.
Great News! Bow Elementary has partnered with PickUp Patrol to help better manage our dismissal process (en español/em português).
PickUp Patrol provides a layer of safety to our dismissal process by authorizing plan changes and automatically tracking dismissal plans. The application reduces interruptions, speeds up dismissal time, and is administered by our own staff.
ALL plan changes should now be submitted through PickUp Patrol. When making changes, please do not send notes, emails, or call the office, except in an emergency.
Important Action Needed: Please take a few minutes to set up your account so that we can accurately dismiss your child(ren).

Dear BES Families,
Welcome back! I hope everyone has had a summer of events and activities that makes them happy. The weather has been decent for being outside and enjoying all that New Hampshire has to offer in the summer season. At BES we are thrilled to welcome all our families back to Bow Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. To all our new families, welcome! As we look for the 26/27 school year we are embracing the theme of Beyond the Build, Strengthening Community. At BES we are proud of our community of learners. We spend each day growing and learning together.
This year we are welcoming many new people to our building. We are especially excited to announce that our preschool program is returning to BES after being hosted at BHS for the past few years. It is wonderful to have our youngest learners back under our roof. Their teachers Sam O’Donnell and Elizabeth Duncan, are joined by our new teachers in grade 1 Kayla Buxton and Laurie Hodgman, grade 3 Allison McInnes, Kaleigh Baker, and Britt Ledoux, grade 4 Isaiah Winnettknoy, and in special education Amanda Conely and Samantha Harvey-Dinan. In addition we are pleased to welcome Matt Ardita, Danielle Rossi, Rachael Ovaginian, Brittany Williams, Astrid Ruff, Camelia Beansch, and Erica Lewis as paraprofessionals supporting our students. In addition we collaborate with Southern New Hampshire University for their education program and we welcome student teachers Aurora Costa and Melaine Rand to Kindergarten and grade 3. This year we have entered a fellowship with St. Anselem’s College and we welcome Julia Vaughan to special education.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Tyler Young and our hardworking custodial crew—Kelly, Grayton, Don, and our high school summer help—for all their efforts this summer. The building looks fantastic and is ready for the return of our students.
It has been a pleasure having our summer ESY program back in the building, and we are grateful that this is our first summer in several years without construction. We appreciate the peace and progress this has allowed.
A reminder of our opening day schedule at BES:
You can look forward to receiving welcome letters from your child's teachers soon. These letters will provide essential information regarding classroom expectations and specific supplies. As a reminder here is a link to our school supply list.
Additionally, a welcome email from Pick Up Patrol will follow this newsletter. The welcome email will also be sent when we have the bus routes. We anticipate receiving bus schedules around August 20th. Once the routes are finalized, we will send a follow-up message with that information, along with a review of our parent drop-off and pick-up routines to ensure a smooth transition for everyone.
We are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead.
Beyond the Build, strengthening our community.
Take care,
Lori
Today we had the wonderful tradition of the Senior Walk Through. We love how much the students of all ages enjoy this event. Tomorrow is the last day of the 2025-2026 school year, and we will be celebrating our successes. In the morning, students will meet their new teachers. We will also have our annual end-of-year assembly, which includes new surprises for our Bobcats. In the afternoon, we will be out back for our 4th of July parade, which ends with a red, white, and blue popsicle, just like Ms. Krueger had during the Bicentennial in 1976.
Children will come home with envelopes containing the end-of-benchmark assessment results for Acadience and iReady. Report cards, which our teachers have put tremendous effort and care into, will be emailed to you via Alma before 2:15 p.m. These report cards will include your child's new teacher's name in the "Bobcat Habits" section.
In the 2026-2027 school year, BES will have several staffing changes. We have three amazing teachers heading off to retirement; we wish them the best and will miss the talents and gifts they have given us over the years. Congratulations to Monica Swenson, Kathy Scanlon, and Suzie Percy! In addition, we have several people moving to new opportunities outside of Bow. We thank Emily Berube, Allyssa Allaire, Brittany Kaake, Megan Wilkins, and Mari Mielcarz for being a part of the BES community in our classrooms. We thank Alicia Presbrey, Elin Warwick, Christa Threlfall, Ben Crabtree, Ryan Hanks, and Sue Dalpra for their work with students as paraprofessionals.
These vacancies have led to some BES staff moving into new roles, and we are excited to welcome seven new staff members to our school. Those changes are the following:
Moving to new roles:
Katie Pelletier - Math Specialist
Heather Glencross - Reading Specialist
Janice Langlais - Reading Specialist
Emily Hewey - Grade 2 teacher
Britt Ledoux - Grade 3 teacher
A hiring committee of teachers and administrators spent the spring hiring the following people to join us. We are excited about the experiences in education that these individuals will bring to BES. The classroom teachers will be here to meet their new students tomorrow morning. We are grateful to them for taking a moment from their current school day to join us.
Kayla Buxton - Grade 1
Laurie Hodgman - Grade 1
Kaliegh Nelson - Grade 3
Allison McInnes - Grade 3
Isaiah Winnettknoy - Grade 4
Amanda Conley - Special Education
Samantha Harvey Dinan - Special Education
Another exciting addition to BES next year is our preschool which will be returning to BES after moving when we ran out of space before the renovation. We can’t wait to have our littlest learners back in the building!
Finally, here is the supply list for 26/27. This will be posted on our website and I will also send it in August when the back to school reminders start coming your way.
I wish everyone a happy and safe summer. Play games, read books, get outside! There is so much to enjoy in New Hampshire!
Take care,
Lori
Just a little reminder about tomorrow’s dismissal. This is from last Friday’s newsletter.
As always, we will conclude the year with our fun dismissal tradition, where the buses drive around the loop twice as we all wave goodbye to the 2025/2026 school year. Cars will not be allowed down to the parking lot area until after the buses have finished their loops, which will be at approximately 2:15 PM. Once again, please plan accordingly and do not get in the pick-up line early. We truly appreciate you not picking up your children early at the end of the day so they can enjoy all of the wonderful events we have planned!
Dear BES Bobcats
Can you believe we have only one week left of the school year? This coming week will be a wonderful celebration of a year's worth of learning, packed with several special events to close out our time together.
On Monday evening, our fourth graders will celebrate the culmination of their elementary journey with a special activity they have been working hard on. We look forward to welcoming fourth-grade families to the gym at 6:00 PM. We also extend a huge thank you to the Bow PTO for generously sponsoring the Kona Ice Truck as a special treat for our fourth graders that night; please note that other family members are welcome to purchase a treat as well.
Tuesday brings our highly anticipated Field Day, and fortunately, the weather forecast looks great! Please be sure to review the specific reminders sent out by Ms. Tracy regarding the day's events.
In light of these events, please note that the bus loop will be completely closed off to all traffic during the school day on Tuesday. For the days when the loop is open, we strictly ask that you maintain a speed of no more than 10 mph. A number of drivers have been exceeding this limit—which is easily visible from my office window. With the arrival of spring, many classes and children are frequently outside transitioning to the fields for gym or enjoying an outdoor snack, so please help us keep our students safe.
Looking ahead to Thursday, June 11, BES and BMS will host the heartwarming tradition of the Senior Walk Through around 1:30 PM. This special event takes place in our bus loop, where 10 buses will bring the graduating seniors back to visit the schools. Because of this, no one will be allowed into the loop for student pick-up between 1:15 PM and the end of the walk through, so please plan your afternoon accordingly. You will likely not be allowed in until 2:00. We are hopeful the Bow Police Department will be on-site to help us manage traffic and prevent vehicles from entering the school grounds during this time.
Finally, on Friday, we will officially celebrate the end of the year! The day kicks off with our morning step-up activity, followed by our annual end-of-year assembly. We will then wrap up the afternoon with a special 4th of July Parade and a festive red, white, and blue treat.
I plan on sending several reminders throughout the week as our routines are changing.
Here is to a great last week of school!

Field Day is coming! We can't wait to celebrate on Tuesday, Jun 9, 2026 (with a rain date of Monday, Jun 8, 2026). Please have students arrive on time with their sneakers on, a water bottle in hand, and a wonderful spirited attitude!
Our students will be enjoying the outdoors for about 2 ½ hours at different times throughout the day. Please help them get ready by lathering up with sunscreen at home. If you send sunscreen to school, please ensure it is non-aerosol and that your child can apply it themselves. Since they will likely get a bit wet and dirty, please send them in weather-appropriate clothing and footwear. Also, don't forget a labeled water bottle, as the school isn't able to provide them.
We are excited to provide one free Freeze Pop Popsicle for every child! For our BBQ picnic lunch featuring hot dogs, students can use their lunch account PIN numbers or bring a lunch from home. Volunteers may join us for lunch the cost is $5.00.
While we love our school community, our volunteer list is currently full and space is quite limited. If you aren't signed up to volunteer, we kindly ask that you enjoy the pictures we'll share after the event and listen to all the exciting stories your child will have to tell when they get home!
Please see the attached flyer for the Baker Free Library summer reading program. They will be at BES on Monday to share the program details with the students during lunch.

Dear BES Bobcat Families,
What an incredibly vibrant and successful week we have shared here at our school! We just wrapped up another wonderful Book Fair, and we want to extend a massive thank you to Rebecca Orcutt for her exceptional time and effort in making it happen. Thanks to her hard work, our students are heading home with fantastic new reading materials, and our school library is celebrating a beautifully expanded literacy collection that will benefit our community for years to come.
The creativity didn't stop with reading, as our students and music ensembles also took center stage this week. Kim Bryant put together a spectacular Glow Art Show for our Kindergarten and First-grade families, transforming the art room into a truly fabulous, glowing masterpiece. Meanwhile, Victoria Kephart and Rachel Hunton hosted a lovely concert for the families of our talented Grade 3 and 4 Select Choir. The musical excitement continues tonight as our choir takes the field to sing at the Fisher Cats game—what a great opportunity for our young performers! Additionally, our third and fourth graders have officially finished their NH State Assessments. We are incredibly pleased with their hard work and focus, and we look forward to sharing the results once the state releases them in the coming weeks.
Looking ahead, I wish everyone a safe and restful holiday weekend. As we enjoy this time with family, let us take a meaningful moment to reflect on the brave men and women who have given everything for our country from the Revolutionary War to the present day. This spirit of remembrance ties beautifully into our current focus at BES, where we are honoring the upcoming 250th Birthday of America. We look forward to celebrating this historic milestone together as we power through the final three weeks of the school year!
Enjoy the weekend!
Lori
If you would like to order a Field Day t-shirt for your student, please fill out this form. Purchasing a shirt is optional. The shirt cost is $13.50.
Field Day t-shirt colors remain the same each year, so if your child’s shirt from last year still fits, there is no need to order a new one. Kindergarten families may want to consider ordering a larger size so the shirt can be used for multiple years.
If you are volunteering for Field Day, you are welcome to order a shirt for yourself as well! Please fill out a separate Google Form for each shirt you would like to order.
You may pay through your Alma account or you may write a check out to Bow Elementary School, (please put your child's name on the memo line). We will not accept cash. The Alma fee will show up on your account on 5/29. Thank you!
Since there will be a lot of barbecues this weekend, don’t forget about Hannaford School Dollars!
Hannaford To Go shoppers should be on the lookout for this email on or around June 5. An extended redemption deadline will be available exclusively for Hannaford To Go shoppers to ensure they have enough time to redeem their School Dollars.
Regardless of which Hannaford your school community shops at, they can donate to any participating school using our redemption website. The top 200 schools to redeem the most School Dollars will each receive a $1,000 bonus check from the Hannaford Helps Schools program!

Dear BES Bobcat Families,
After three straight days of rain, I think we are all more than ready for some sunshine! While we made every effort to get the students outside whenever there was a break in the clouds this week, we are truly looking forward to regular outdoor recess returning to BES next week.
Last night was a fantastic success as our 3rd and 4th-grade families joined us for Math Night. A huge thank you to Rachel Hunton for organizing this event. Her after-school group did a wonderful job presenting fun, engaging learning games that showcased how math can be both educational and entertaining for everyone involved.
This coming Wednesday is shaping up to be a busy and exciting evening for our community. Please join us for:
I was thrilled to get back into the classrooms this week for walkthroughs. I must say, I am incredibly impressed with the growth in handwriting across the board.
While visiting the 1st and 4th-grade classrooms, I watched students working diligently on their writing pieces. Seeing such legible, clear penmanship was a highlight of my week. Beyond just the mechanics, it is clear that our students are developing sophisticated skills as thoughtful writers!
Finally, a huge "hats off" to our 3rd and 4th graders. They have just one more day of state testing remaining. They have handled the week with focus and grace, truly demonstrating the skills they have worked so hard to master this year.
Since these students have been putting in "extra" effort during this testing window, we have a fun treat waiting for them.
Enjoy this lovely weekend coming our way!
Lori
